As the summer rounds out nicely in the Triangle, as the leaves on the maples in our backyard start going from green to golden… change is in the air. It’s a nice change. A comfortable change. A change that seems like it’s been such a long time coming, it’s electric.
The changes this September are great. And by great I mean both Wonderful and Substantial.
Jessie, one of the girlfriends I’ve had in the Triangle who has really shaped my adult life here, is moving to Baltimore. And while she’s seen above looking as if she is about to bite one of our dearest friends, she’s really quite gentle. And funny. And beautiful. And unique. And even though I am thrilled at the thought of her new life (and the new opportunities it brings), I cannot help but mourn the loss of what will be missing on Girls Nights in the Triangle.
And with Jessie’s move… Veit, Jessie’s roommate and the one I call my Little Sunshine, is moving out of the apartment community in the Triangle that brought us all together so many moons ago. She’s moving to her own new beginning. (Though luckily, this beginning is just a few exits down the interstate.) Last night, we picked out paint colors for her new place.
And Wags… this stunning brunette with the impossible eyelashes … Wags is giggling her way into the new life we all have. She came on the scene when I was still living in Boone and, well… I just have to say… I don’t believe I have ever laughed at anyone as long or as steadily as I laughed at Girls’ Night last night with Wags on the scene.
So there’s change in September. Change.
And in the middle of all that it is, this change, is an electric buzz of hope and optimism.
For things to come.
For memories to make.
For lives to lead.
And most importantly, for the promise of friends for the sharing of all the stories.
